THE PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Dear All,
I would like to inform you of the different projects that the FIG is working on right now, and also of the important decisions taken at the Executive Committee and Council meetings in Istanbul in May.

FIG Executive Committee meeting in Istanbul (TUR)
Dear Members of the Authorities,
Dear Presidents of Federations and Unions,
Please take note of the summary of main decisions and information following the Executive Committee (EC) meeting 9 - 10 May 2018 in Istanbul (TUR):
- On the proposal of President Watanabe, the EC unanimously decided to support all affiliated federations in their participation at all FIG Congresses. The FIG will pay for one single or double room including breakfast per federation and offer free travel in economy class for one delegation member per federation.
- On the proposal of President Watanabe, the EC unanimously decided to review the advertising space on gymnasts' leotards, tracksuits, bags and auxiliary equipment. The Marketing and TV Commission will review the current rules and present proposals at the next EC meeting in July 2018.
- The EC reviewed and approved the intermediate accounts 1.1. - 31.3.2018.
- The EC prepared all proposals and approved presentations to be made to the Council in Istanbul.
- The EC decided on further details and conditions for the organisation of the Junior Artistic Gymnastics World Championships 2019 which are scheduled to take place in Györ (HUN) and the Junior Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships 2019 to be held in Moscow (RUS). Both events will be considered as test events. A final decision to introduce Junior World Championships, in which year, how often, competition formats, participation criteria, bidding conditions etc. will be discussed by the EC and proposed to the Council 2020 after having analysed the two test events.
- The Executive Committee unanimously approved the proposals of the Apparatus Commission concerning several changes, clarifications and amendments to the FIG Apparatus Norms Part II and IV.The main decisions concerned the new Horizontal Displacement Measuring Device (HDMD) and the Time Measuring Device (TMD) for Trampoline Gymnastics.
The new HDMD device will allow automatic scoring for Horizontal Displacement, Time of Flight and lack of Synchronisation.
The updated Apparatus Norms will be published in due time. - The EC unanimously decided to extend the transition period - for gymnasts only - concerning the changes of the Apparatus Norms decided by the EC in May 2016. The dates of enforcement will change from 1 September 2018 to 1 January 2019.Likewise, the EC decided that Art. 4.1.1 of the "Generalities" Chapter in the RG Code of Points will only be applied and enforced from 1 January 2019.
- The Executive Committee decided to withdraw the certificates of the Apparatus Manufacturers who have not adapted their products by 31 May 2018 to the norms decided in May 2016. They were given an original transition period until 1 January 2018.
- The EC decided to reinforce its activities concerning the education and information of gymnasts, coaches, entourage and its affiliated member federations re antidoping and the prevention of injuries.
- The EC discussed and approved the proposals for Statutes changes to be presented to and approved by the Congress in December 2018. The main changes concern the nomination of the members of the Technical Committees by the EC and rules for gender equality. The proposals for the creation of an Ethics Foundation including the safeguarding of athletes will be discussed at the next EC meeting in July 2018.
- The Executive Committee was happy to learn that the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation presented its candidature for the 2021 Trampoline World Championships at the time of its meetings. The bid documents will be reviewed by the FIG Office and presented to the EC for assignment provided all conditions are met.

About the FIG: The International Gymnastics Federation is the governing body for Gymnastics worldwide. It is the oldest established international federation of an Olympic sport and has participated in the Olympic Games since their revival in 1896. The FIG governs eight sports: Gymnastics for All, Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Trampoline - including Double Mini-trampoline and Tumbling -, Aerobics, Acrobatics, and Parkour. It counts 148 national member federations and has its headquarters in the Olympic Capital of Lausanne (SUI).
